Like many other Canadian regions, liveability is very important to buyers in the Charlottetown region. Residents in Charlottetown want to feel safe and have space. They also feel that a sense of home is more important than ever. One of the best neighbourhoods in Charlottetown among homebuyers right now is Brighton, due to its limited turnover and attractive price point.

The East Royalty and West Royalty neighbourhoods are the most active in the market, largely driven by construction in the area. These two neighbourhoods also have the space to grow into higher density communities.

Although it is its own community, Cornwall, which sits just next door to Charlottetown, has the best ability to grow. Especially when because of its lower of a price point, which is a draw for many new buyers. That said, the biggest barrier to its continued growth is its inability to bring infrastructure to developments in the area.

Sherwood/Parkdale is also one of the best places to buy a home in Charlottetown. This mature neighbourhood is known for being a safe and community-minded, and is walkable to schools and most amenities.

Demand in the broader region is primarily being driven by suburban families/move-up buyers, first-time homebuyers and the health and wellness lovers.

Advice to homebuyers

Homebuyers should consider working with a professional real estate agent to help them make the best decisions in their home-buying journey, suggests Mary Jane Webster, broker and owner, RE/MAX Charlottetown. “Homebuyers should also take their time to properly consider and assess all options available to them. Think about how your desired lifestyle can tie into your home-buying decisions.”
